Sam Houston, Curio Collection by Hilton, on Saturday, April 24th for a book signing and Q&A in celebration of his 2021 thriller, Payback Jack. The fictional book’s first chapter features a politically charged assassination committed on the fourth floor of the 1980’s dilapidated Sam Houston Hotel. From 11 a.m. – 1 p.m Tim will be signing books before the 1 p.m. – 2 p.m tour of the hotel’s fourth floor, which served as the setting of the assassination in the book’s first chapter, then he will resume signing books and answer questions from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Texas-themed snacks and drinks will be provided. For those who would like to stay over the weekend, the hotel will be offering a special package available Friday and Saturday night that includes a bottle of Gnarly Head 1924 wine in honor of the year the hotel was built and complimentary valet parking for $149 per night. Sojka uses the musty, dark, haunted 1980’s Sam in his period novel. However, in 2004 The Sam was lovingly remodeled into one of downtown Houston’s premier hotels.
