A country boy who knows the cost of secrets

My earliest jobs included frying chicken, mixing cow chips with peat moss, and stacking bags of manure. Not a cowboy or redneck (I'd consider either a compliment) but a small-town Texas kid. While most storytellers claim to be influenced by authors, my bards include country singers / legends Hank Williams Jr., Tanya Tucker, Charlie Daniels, Charley Pride, Charlie Rich, George Jones, George Strait, and Merle Haggard. At five years old, standing in a smoky juke-joint, I first heard Charley Pride’s Kiss and Angel Food Mornin’. Pride's lyrics became images in my head, like a movie, more stories than song.

My Red Dirt Road Novels embrace the rhythm of county music; while featuring Texas settings, iconic characters (that can only be from the Piney Woods), emotional gut punches, deep faith, plot twists, small town humor, and blue collar beauty.

Jerked between two worlds, Baptist deacons and Sunday school / juke boxes and beer joints, I grew up a country boy who knows the cost of secrets.

All glory to Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior
Saved and imperfect
